Aircall AI: What It Does, What It Costs and When to Build More
Aircall AI already transcribes calls, writes summaries, scores calls and can answer the phone for you. Use it first. Build on top of it when the review has to know what happened after the call: whether the customer bought, whether the next contact was booked, and what's in your other systems.
Start with what Aircall already does
If your team calls from Aircall, the first question isn't whether to build anything. It's which of Aircall's own AI features you've switched on. Summaries, topics, sentiment and call scoring come as part of Aircall's AI products, and they land in Aircall, HubSpot and Intercom without anyone writing code.
I'm David at AC0. I build call review workflows on top of Aircall, so I have a reason to say "build". Most teams should still start with what they already pay for.
Aircall's AI products, checked 1 November 2026
| Product | What it does | Price and plan, as listed |
|---|---|---|
| Call and voicemail transcription | Transcribes recorded calls, separating agent and customer | Included on Essentials, Professional and Enterprise |
| AI Assist | Summaries, key topics, action items, sentiment, talk-to-listen ratio, call scoring, CRM autofill | $9 per license a month, or included in Professional |
| AI Assist Pro | Adds live transcription, real-time prompts and playbooks, custom summaries, custom scorecards with automatic scoring | $49 per seat a month |
| AI Voice Agent | Answers and resolves calls on its own, and can make outbound calls | 50 free minutes a month on paid plans, then $0.49 a minute ($0.39 above 2,550 minutes) |
| AI Actions | Lets AI agents act during or after a call, such as updating HubSpot or opening a Zendesk ticket | Available to customers using AI Agents |
| AI Messaging Agent | Handles inbound SMS and WhatsApp messages | $0.15 to $0.35 per conversation |
Aircall's pages don't fully agree with each other. The pricing page lists the Voice Agent as included in the plans, while the AI overview page calls it an add-on. The AI Assist product page says English only, while the help centre lists seven validated languages, Spanish among them. Treat the table as a map and confirm the current terms with Aircall.
Where the built-in features stop
Aircall's AI is very good at the call itself: what was said, how it went, what was promised. Through its integrations it can put that summary into HubSpot, Salesforce or an Intercom conversation. What it doesn't know on its own is the rest of the story:
- What happened next. Did the customer place the order, cancel or go quiet? That lives in your order system or CRM.
- Your definition of good follow-up. A generic "action items" list isn't the same as checking whether a specific next contact was agreed on the calls where one was needed.
- Everything outside the call. The email thread before it, the support ticket after it, the SMS reply that came in while someone else was calling.
- Where your managers actually look. A coach preparing a one-to-one wants three calls worth discussing, not a dashboard of every call scored.
If none of that matters for you, stop here and use AI Assist. If it does, you build on top of Aircall rather than instead of it.
What you need to know before building on Aircall transcripts
The pieces are there, with a few details that decide how you build:
- You need AI Assist or AI Assist Pro. Transcripts, summaries, sentiment and topics can only be retrieved through the API if your company has one of them. Custom summaries and playbook results need Pro.
- Webhooks tell you when, REST gives you what. Aircall sends
transcription.created,summary.created,sentiment.createdandtopics.createdevents. The summary event carries the text. The transcription event doesn't, so you fetch it fromGET /v1/calls/:call_id/transcription. - Speakers are already separated. Each part of the transcript is marked
internalorexternal, with times, so you can assess what your colleague said rather than the whole conversation. - Only recorded calls with an external participant are transcribed. Calls that aren't recorded won't show up, and HubSpot gets no transcript for calls under a minute.
- Recording links expire. The direct recording URL is valid for an hour, so store a reference to the call, not the link.
- Deleting a recording deletes the AI data too. Your retention settings decide what your review can look back on.
- The rate limit is 120 requests a minute per company. Plenty for review after calls, worth planning for if you backfill months of history.
An example: AC0 Coaching
AC0 Coaching grew out of work with a client's sales and operations team. It reads Aircall transcripts, which distinguish the colleague from the customer, and puts them next to customer activity in Intercom and actual sales from the order system. The review surfaces follow-up needs, escalations, missed opportunities and one concrete improvement point. Follow-up is assessed separately: was a specific next contact agreed, on the calls where one was relevant?
A coach then opens the recording, goes through the example with the colleague and uses team and individual views to prepare the next session. Aircall's own summaries still do their job inside Aircall. The custom layer answers the questions only the combined data can.
The same client work produced AC0 Assistant, which brings Aircall calls, Intercom conversations and orders into Slack. If your question is "who needs a call back?" rather than "how do we coach", see AI lead follow-up for B2B teams.
Use Aircall AI alone, or build on top?
- Aircall AI alone if you want summaries and scores in Aircall and your CRM, your scorecard fits Aircall's format and nobody needs sales or support data next to the call.
- Build on top if coaching depends on what happened after the call, if follow-up has a definition specific to your business, or if the right answer needs calls, conversations and orders together.
- Either way, switch on transcription and recording deliberately. They're the raw material for both routes, and deleted recordings take the AI data with them.
Sources and method
Product, pricing and plan details come from Aircall's pricing page, the AI Assist page, the AI Actions announcement of 7 May 2026, the help centre articles on transcription, AI Assist, Voice Agent billing, the Intercom integration and HubSpot transcripts, and the developer documentation and transcription guide. All checked on 1 November 2026. Where Aircall's pages disagree, the article says so. The limits and the build-or-not test are AC0's judgment from building on Aircall. The AC0 Coaching example describes published capabilities, without outcome figures.
Words worth knowing
Call transcript: the written text of a recorded call, split by speaker.
Scorecard: a set of criteria a call is assessed against, filled in by a person or automatically.
Webhook: a message one system sends another the moment something happens, such as a transcript being ready.
Frequently asked
What is Aircall AI?
It's the set of AI products on top of Aircall's phone system. AI Assist adds call summaries, topics, action items, sentiment and call scoring. AI Assist Pro adds live transcription, real-time prompts, custom summaries and custom scorecards. The AI Voice Agent answers and handles calls, and the AI Messaging Agent handles SMS and WhatsApp.
How much does Aircall AI cost?
Checked on 1 November 2026, Aircall's AI Assist page lists AI Assist at $9 per license a month, and its help centre says it's included in the Professional plan. AI Assist Pro is listed at $49 per seat a month. The AI Voice Agent includes 50 free minutes a month on the paid plans, then costs $0.49 a minute. Aircall's own pages don't fully agree, so confirm with Aircall before you budget.
Does Aircall transcribe calls in Spanish and other languages?
Aircall's help centre lists English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian and Portuguese as validated transcription languages, with other languages on a best-effort basis. Only recorded calls are transcribed, and transcripts separate the agent from the customer.
Can I get Aircall transcripts and summaries through the API?
Yes, if your company has AI Assist or AI Assist Pro. Webhooks tell you when a transcript, summary, sentiment or topics are ready, and you fetch the content from endpoints under /v1/calls/:call_id. Each part of the transcript is marked as internal or external, so you know who said what. The public API allows 120 requests a minute per company.
Can AC0 build call review on top of Aircall?
Yes. AC0 Coaching reads Aircall transcripts alongside customer activity and sales from the order system, surfaces calls worth discussing and checks whether a specific next contact was agreed. Scope and fee are agreed before any work starts, and you work directly with David.
